Ukraine’s Most Widely Used UASs Are Supplied with IRIZI ISTAR

Cetus and Mara are fixed-wing reconnaissance UAVs currently deployed at scale within the military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, along with the integration of the IRIZI software.

Cetus is a catapult-launched ISR UAV designed to perform extended photo reconnaissance missions for up to 3 hours within an operational radius of 40 km. This UAV typically operates at altitudes of up to 3500 m to expand mission coverage.

Mara is a lightweight, hand-launched ISR UAV that operates at distances of up to 35 km, in daylight conditions. The fixed-wing UAV is optimised to support low-altitude operations, from 70 to 500 m, for up to 2 hours and maintains stability in gusting wind conditions up to 20 m/s.

Every day, these UAVs operate under persistent EW and limited navigation availability. IRIZI was developed specifically to support frontline reconnaissance missions in contested and GPS-degraded environments. The software enables georeferencing of detected objects, orthophoto generation, AI-based object recognition, and precise target coordinate detection – even when imagery is collected without reliable GNSS or GPS.

IRIZI ISTAR offers a comprehensive approach to risk management, including structured mission planning with UAV and payload profiling, as well as mission optimisation based on threat impact, geospatial data, weather, altitude, and other factors, while ensuring integration and interoperability.

As part of the IRIZI software ecosystem, this solution delivers a unified user interface tailored for demanding military operations.
