Business Development Manager (Military experience)

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth in the defence and military sector. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of military procurement cycles, defence contracting, and the operational applications of UxVs in tactical and strategic environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and develop new business opportunities with defence ministries, military branches, and defence contractors (B2G and B2B).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with military stakeholders, procurement officers, and integrators.
- Understand customer requirements and provide technical-commercial solutions aligned with UxV capabilities.
- Lead proposal development, including RFP/RFQ responses, capability statements, and pricing strategies.
- Develop and manage strategic partnerships and alliances to expand market presence.
- Support product development teams by relaying market feedback and operational requirements.
- Attend trade shows, military expos, and industry events to promote the company and scout opportunities.
- Monitor competitor activity and assess risks and opportunities in the defense UxV market.
- Ensure compliance with defence export regulations, and applicable local laws.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Defence Studies, or related field (Master’s or MBA is a plus).
- 5+ years of experience in business development within the defence, aerospace, or UxV sector.
- Demonstrated knowledge of military operations and procurement processes, especially related to unmanned systems.
- Existing network within defence organisations or military forces.
- Strong understanding of UxV technologies and their battlefield applications (ISR, EW, logistics, etc.).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel internationally and work in a dynamic, high-stakes environment.
- Fluency in English.
Preferred Attributes:
- Military background or experience working closely with military end users.
- Familiarity with NATO STANAGs, defence tenders, and defence acquisition regulations.
- Additional languages relevant to target markets are a plus.
