Responsibilities: 

• Own the product. Publish and defend the IRIZI roadmap; define what is core product and what is customer-specific configuration, so new users are onboarded without forking the codebase.
• Run the operator feedback loop. Build a reliable channel from operating units into the product, and separate the signal that should change the product from the request that should change one deployment. Get out to users personally.
• Lead the move to versioning, release discipline, configuration management, documentation, training and support — for customers who will not have our engineers beside them.
• Own the AI roadmap. Decide where machine learning earns its place in the product — detection and classification, sensor fusion, autonomy assistance, operator workload reduction — and hold it to evidence: real performance on real data, with honest failure behaviour.
• Set the interface strategy. Open APIs, messaging and data models; integration with allied C2, prime architectures and end user mission management stack.
• Support the commercial side. Licensing and pricing, bids, evaluations, trials and customer briefings. Able to demo the product, explain it and take criticism of it in the same meeting.
• Manage a small product team around the IRIZI line, and work closely with engineering leads on sequencing and release cadence.

Essential requirements: 

• At least 5 years in software product roles, including senior ownership of a product with real external users.
• A software development background — the candidate has built software, not only managed it. Able to read code, review an architecture and argue a technical trade-off with engineers on the merits.
• Substantive AI and machine learning experience: shipping ML-backed features in production, and sound judgement on where models genuinely outperform deterministic approaches and where they do not. Working knowledge of the data, training, evaluation and deployment pipeline that sits behind them.
• Experience of command-and-control, mission management, dispatch or comparable operational software, where the user is under load and the consequences are physical.
• Track record of taking software from working to supportable — release process, documentation, deployment, support — without stopping delivery.
• Strong understanding of unmanned systems: control modes, autonomy handover, datalinks, payloads, and behaviour when comms or navigation degrade under electronic warfare or GNSS denial.
• Experience delivering to defence, security or government customers.
• Comfortable working with an engineering team and user base operating under wartime conditions.
• Excellent written and spoken English; willing to travel internationally and work across NATO / EU time zones.

Desirable: 

• Military, police or emergency-services operational background, or sustained close work with those users.
• Hands-on depth in computer vision, sensor fusion or edge inference on constrained compute
• Experience with NATO interoperability standards in practice.
• Experience taking a product from one operational customer to multiple export customers, or integrating a product and team after an acquisition.
• Relevant degree in engineering, computer science or a related discipline.
